Our Story.

Along with my brother, who is my partner in this new adventure and is just as hardworking as I am. It all began on a small micro ranch in the town of El Rio, CA. This is where we saw what it was to work hard and do what it took to put food on the table. Our grandfather Ramon Perez along with his wife, my grandmother, who we call Pachita, were very hard working people, they had what it took to survive and work for what they wanted. This instilled in us the understanding of what it was to also work hard, and that sweating and getting dirty was all a part of what it took to one day becoming successful.

At around the age of 10, with my little brother being around 8 at the time. We had a paper route. We woke up at 5AM every morning to band and bag the newspaper, then set out to hand deliver the newspaper on our bikes to dozens of our neighbors. This went on for a while, then we would get ready for school and head out on our BMX bikes. We lived in Camarillo, CA at this time. My father was a licensed plumber, who was also a very hard working man, he worked for a large construction company by the name of Ven Oaks. Our work ethic continued to grow with my father. We would help him on the job site and learn what we could at that age.

My family and I moved to a small town in the Central Valley of California by the name of Dinuba. I came here in the 8th grade and did half of my middle school here, then my four years of high school. During High School I was able to hold a job. I was bussing tables at Perko's Café at age 15 making $3.75/hr., then I found a better higher paying job, yep $4.25/hr, busting tires for the local Chevron, which allowed me to make tips on the full-service line. Cleaning windows and pumping gas. I was rolling in money now! Hahahaha...! Times were different then for sure.

I fell into the automotive repair business for about a year and a half, then moved onto pipeline construction work. I was working for a company by the name of Kings River Irrigation here in Dinuba where I currently live. This is where my love for water really began and my knowledge of how water flowed grew. Mr. Buskirk was an inspiration to me and was willing to teach me all about fluid hydraulics, friction losses and how to design and install irrigation systems no matter how large or small the section of land. I already knew about gluing and priming from my past experiences, so installing PVC came easy to me. Unfortunately, this business had an end and I found myself looking for a job. So, I came to a nearby town called Reedley.

Reedley Irrigation and Nursery is where I landed and what a blessing that turned out to be. I learned all about plant relations, trees, micro drip irrigation, water filtration, fertigation (which is where you inject fertilizer using a device directly into the water source for the trees or plants), concrete work, and the proper mixing of concrete for slab, plaster, and or repair, landscape sprinklers, etc. This is where I started doing my own business for walk-in clients. I took on the residential clients and Reedley took on the large commercial and agricultural clients. I was installing landscape every weekend. Trenching for sprinklers and watermains, planting of plants and trees, and the laying of sod. Pretty basic at that time. At this time, I was managing the facility. Apparently, I had impressed a business owner from Reedley CA Northern California. They heard about me through a client that happened to be a friend of theirs. They had started an irrigation supply business in Modesto California. They came to Reedley to find me and offer me an opportunity I could not refuse. A salaried job working for them. Yep, I needed to move. So, I did. Unfortunately, that went on for only a short while, I won't get into the details. It wasn't what made me happy. So, I came home.

I started a courier as a salesman with Agri-Valley irrigation soon after. I was considered the youngest Ag Salesman in the valley at this time. At least that's what I was told. In my early 20's at the time. I learned a lot with this company. With Agri-valley I had to deal with encroachment permits for installing across roads and highways, permits and plans, inspectors, and jurisdictions. Either way, soon after I fell back into my role as a landscaper on the weekends and sold ag irrigation during the week for about 5 years. Then I broke off and went fully vested in the residential landscape business. Trenching for sprinklers, laying water mains, drainage systems, planting of plants and trees, laying of sod, rock, building and forming of concrete slabs and retaining walls. Framing wooden structures, like pergolas and arbors, building, framing, and staining of decks, electrical lighting, and circuits, etc. My team and I did a lot. I was running a crew of 5-7 guys at this time.

Well, the crash of 2008 happened and I needed work. I shut that down and started working for a commercial electrical company, VIP Electric out of Arizona and then Nutter Electric out of Sacramento. They both were in the area building large commercial sites, like the Lowes in Visalia, CA. The Lowes in Porterville, and the Super Target in Porterville. I worked for about a year and a half, maybe two years in these buildings. I was bending conduit, pulling wire, single and multi-phase, setting boxes, coring walls, and floors, hanging seismic wire and fixtures, pulling MC within steel framed walls, trenching for the parking lot lights and main conduits, and pulling and working with various types of cables. We also did all the finish work like setting and hanging of the light fixtures, installing the receptacles, switches, cover plates, photocells, outdoor can lights, etc. I was certified in operating several pieces of equipment, reach forklifts, standard forklifts, scissor lifts, trenchers and backhoes.

Once this ended, I fell in with the City of Reedley working as a maintenance worker. I worked on all sorts of projects from exterior and interior painting to framing and construction of walls and wooden structures. I taped, masked, and painted by myself the entire police department. I also built the building entry gable and back patio associated with the airport community office, not by myself of course. I had two helpers which I managed. They also assisted me in re roofing several buildings for the city. I did flooring, and interior wall repairs. I did irrigation related work for the landscaping around the community center. I also set up tables and chairs for the city events.

Then I began my solar venture! About 14 yrs. ago, I heard about a man named Glenn Siemens who was looking for a solar installer/project manager. He needed to fill the position immediately. So, I immediately applied and got the job. This is where I learned about DC voltage and how dangerous it is. I did everything in relation to solar. I worked on commercial three phase high voltage projects in Northern California for Glenn as well as commercial apartment complexes. Installing hundreds of panels, and thousands of feet of wire and conduit. Once that was over, I moved over to residential and ran that division for Glenn alongside my friend and colleague Gaston Avila. Who remains a friend and colleague today. We cut and poured concrete, built ground mounted structures, dealt with permits and jurisdictional issues as well as inspectors. You name it we had to deal with it. I became a manager and then a director for Arise Solar under Glenn. Who I still do occasional work for today. So after 8 or 9 years of this solar related work. I had to make a decision for myself and decided to move on for my personal reasons. I soon found myself at Solar Maintenance Pros, working as a field supervisor and then a safety officer. I climbed the ladder within 5 yrs and became an executive member. Of which my new title became Enterprise Executive Director, was given to me by my Boss Mr. Chris Moran. So now I'm more of a Boss than ever before. This was great, and was such a pleasure to be a part of. The experience I would gain from being in this position, helped me polish what was already instilled in me over the years. So I had to move on.

So here I am, wanting to take this life experience to the next level and pass on the quality of work that my family and God have instilled in me, to my clients, employees and whomever wants to see what this big, little company can do. I hope my life's work experience brings comfort to you and helps you with whatever decision you are pressed to make as a client.
